The Truth

These films are old, so I'm sure a lot of you have seen them before.  They are still very powerful.  I have 8 nieces and may have my own little girl one day.  I want them to know what true beauty is.  And I want every parent to know and see what their children are up against in this world.

  1. Wow! I'm hold my little baby girl closely this morning as I watch these clips, I hope I can teach her of her perfectness. Thank you for sharing. It is such a good reminder of how we all as parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents... need to always teach our children of what true beauty is, before they learn the worlds distorted view of fake beauty. So glad you are teaching us all. Thanks Bekah.

  2. I have seen that top video more than once and it always brings tears to my eyes. I hope that not only can my little girls always know their true beauty (both inside and out), but also that maybe I won't be quite so hard on myself as I look around and compare myself to the distorted view of beauty that is portrayed in the media and else ware.

  3. Thanks, Bekah. Just because I don't look just like "that girl" on the magazine cover doesn't mean that I'm not beautiful in my own special way. And I don't even have to be put on a magazine cover before I "measure up". What is it with me and magazine covers anyway, I wonder? I am grateful for real life opportunities to appreciate beauty...and for ads like these that remind me of what's real. I love those Dove ads.

  4. Bekah, I am glad that you are willing to share and educate others. It is not easy to share feelings in this maner. I will be reading often and hope to learn how to be more sensitive. Thank you.

  5. When I see those clips all I think is YIKES! We have quite the battle ahead of us with our little girls. Why can't we all just find joy in the beauty God has given us? Myself totally in cluded. These videos were a frank reminder to me that what I see out there on magazines and in the movie/music world is not real. Bekah, do you know of any way we can help our children and selves gain a healthy view of beauty and our bodies...maybe you have key experiences that hindered you view or have been taught helpful tips on gaining a better veiw that you could share.
